Before you can make things better, you have to stop making them worse... Have you considered that being critical, judgmental, or invalidating toward the other parent, no matter what she or he just did will only make matters worse? Someone has to be do something. This means finding the motivation to stop making things worse, learning how to interrupt your own negative responses, body language, facial expressions, voice tone, and learning how to inhibit your urges to do things that you later realize are contributing to the tensions.

Hi,
Reading some good posts,  recommend healing your inner child as necessary part to not repeating this again. I am in a rural area and cannot find\afford a therapist specializing in pd's. (but will continue to look) Any starting points or suggestions? I am doing positive affirmations, meditations for inner child, and reading, learning on these boards.  Has anyone found some tools that will help?

hi panhead67

theres a book we (and me personally) recommend here called "the journey from abandonment to healing" by susan anderson. it has a whole section devoted to inner child work and tools and ill bet it would help.

you can read more on it here: https://bpdfamily.com/book-reviews/journey-from-abandonment-to-healing
