My ex BPD, really seemed to feel people were always out to get her and not safe.

People on the street, ME, her family, friends, any situation really, there was no trust anywhere. Despite actual facts most of the time.

What was this about? Anyone know?

what youre describing isnt uncommon (although it can vary greatly - its a spectrum) within the belief system of someone with BPD traits. people with BPD traits often feel that bad things happen to them, over which they have little control. depending on where someone is on the spectrum, this will look more or less extreme.

there is, generally, a distrust of others and their intentions (people are not seen as an integrated whole, within the context of their past, present, or future acts), where fears rule and govern. motives are questioned and second guessed. you probably experienced a lot of this personally.

so howd it effect you, beyondthesea? i imagine it wasnt easy to handle and surreal to witness.
