Long-distance relationship with BPD person

My girlfriend and I have been dating and hooking up on-and-off for about a year and a half. She was diagnosed with BPD years ago and she was very open about it from the day we met so I've had some time to get used to it. We've had periods of time when she was ignoring me (the longest one took almost 2 months). During one of those periods, I make a decision that I would move abroad for at least 3 years. I told her in late July and she's been kind of supportive but really stressed out about the whole things. We saw each other every day in August and every day, she'd cry and tell me how much she was going to miss me. We decided that we'll try a long-distance, open relationship. We said goodbye on Friday.
I'm not going to lie, I'm very nervous about this. I'm scared she'll hurt herself or do something stupid without me. I'm also afraid that in the end she'll just completely forget about me.
Does anyone have any experience with being in a long-distance relationship with a BPD person?

Welcome ,
I personally do not have experience with a LDR, but I know many on this board have had that experience. I can imagine how the fear of not knowing could create nervousness and concerns.
What plans do you both have in order to stay in touch? How often will you meet in person?
Before she met you, what did she do in times of wanting to self harm? Does she have a support system in place?
