My experience involved a person who refused any responsibility for their actions. When I read others stories I seem to see this characteristic as central to many people's emotional trauma. They do not acknowledge the pain they cause.
Watch this video. It was very powerful for me.

I agree that when someone causes ongoing emotional pain and won't acknowledge it, they are lying to themselves. Contempt for others who aren't treating them right can build as those around them withdraw out of self-preservation, and the individual justifies their demands and blames others for not fulfilling them. And pretty soon you're at a crisis point. I remember watching a Dr. John Gottman video where he talked about how contempt is a major predictor of relationship failure.
That said, I know that I lied a lot to myself too. I truly thought that my codependency would save the relationship. Of course it didn't.

All of it really. We all self deceive, that human and normal but a person's conscience should step in when that dishonesty starts to hurt others. It has made me see my ex a lot less sympathetically

Feminist nonsense! " Internalization of cultural norms"
Listen, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a healthy acceptance of a set of norms and values in life.
I at least agree with her point that we are responsible for our own selves.

A timely reminder, one of the stupidest things you can do is not realize how stupid other people can be.
there are a lot of crazy people out there beware.

I think her intent was to tell us about our ("self" deceptions... .
Good video!
