Hi. I guess I'm here out of desperation. I have an adult child with BPD, along with some other conditions/disorders... .I mean no disrespect. I have no one to talk to, as I am pretty isolated. I'm just trying to keep perspective and my sanity.

Our objective is to better understand the struggles our child faces and to learn the skills to improve our relationship and provide a supportive environment and also improve on our own emotional responses, attitudes and effectiveness as a family leaders

Hi Concerned123

Welcome to the bpdfamily.  While I'm sorry that BPD has brought you here, you are in the right place to get support from all of the wonderful parents here.

Please be assured that there is no judgement here.  All of us who are dealing with BPD children/along with other issues understand that feeling desperation and I know that it is very difficult for you.  However, the reality of how BPD affects our lives, doesn't diminish or undermine that our children are who they are; along with their good qualities and I certainly hear that in your post.

Are you able to tell us a little more about your circumstances so that we can get a discussion going.  Key points/issues will allow others going through very similar things to be able to share their journey and offer support that may be of assistance to you.

Also do you have someone close to support you?

There is much information to the right  Bullet: important point (click to insert in post) I have slowly been making my way through it, reading as much as I can and learning how to step back so I can consider a clearer way forward.

We hope to hear from you soon and I hope you are ok.

Hello Concerned123

I would like to join Merlot in welcoming you and reiterating that you are in the right place to get lots of help and support. I think that we are all pretty much desperate when we find our way here, I ‘know I was as I just didn’t know where to turn, but to come here and to find people who knew what I was going through, well, it was just amazing and it was so important to know that I wasn’t alone.

I am so sorry to hear that you have no one to talk to as you are pretty isolated, but you know, even if you have lots of people to talk to, chances are not one of them will understand what you are dealing with and what you are going through.

You say that you are trying to keep your perspective and your sanity, I’m sure we can all relate to that. What specifically are you doing? What makes you feel good about yourself?

Concerned123  ,

Hi, I'm here to join the others in welcoming you. And yes you have made a statement that has been heard here before "I'm just trying to keep my perspective and my sanity". I too live in a very small town (less than 1,000) and find myself feeling isolated. This board was a saving grace for me. I hope you find that you are safe, supported and encouraged here. It is very usual for our BPD kids to have other issues, conditions, disorders. When you're ready please share more, how can we help support you? Let us know.
