At 3:22 am I received an email, subject line: “I still miss you,” and the whole text of the message:  “Let’s talk.”

With three years of distance, I am now able to see how unhealthy and frankly bizarre such as a message is, but 3 years ago, this message would have rocked my world.

To be honest, I did feel a rush of those old feelings, but they were quickly overtaken by the understanding of just how unhealthy she is and how destructive she was to me both psychologically and emotionally.

Detachment happens, but it takes time. Best to all

I admire your strength, my ex has emailed a few times over the past 3 years since she has been with my replacement, but tbh from what I can make out only to hurt me more or see if I was still hooked... I foolishly replied a year ago but acted not bothered, last two times i have ignored... .think she is done now... .last email she sent me said simply two words "karma happened" whatever that means... .probably because I've stayed single in my recovery so to her she won... she damaged me so badly... she was just evil

Hey Dunder,

If she sent you that message at 3:22 a.m., what do you think she was up to at that hour?  Maybe she was drinking or partying?  What's your guess?

I admire that you were able to look at her message mindfully, by observing the rush of old feelings followed by the reality check that she is still unhealthy and the r/s was destructive.  That says a lot about your healing to me.  Keep up the good work!
