Good news

Just felt like sharing some good news (for once ) that hopefully encourages folks here... .
Had first EVER school night overnight with SD12 last night. For those of you who have been tracking our story for a while, this is huge. If you're newer here, this is the kid who at age 7 or so told DH "you're not my family".
I hope this brings some encouragement, especially to the dads here, that things can get better, even though it can look very dark sometimes.

Thanks Skip
I will add that it has taken a lot of work: using the tools, working with a counselor, practicing validation, being open to feedback, and playing the long game (not going for "instant gratification" of putting down Mom, etc). Just "waiting" wasn't magic. But doing the work over a few years has paid off -- most importantly for the kids to be able to have relationships with BOTH parents.

Yay kells76!
Nice job! Kudos to you and your husband for learning the tools, implementing them and not giving up even when the going gets tough!
I agree it's a long game... .marathon.

That is wonderful news! I'm so happy for you, and for SD12!
Your empathy and skills are a big part of that good news, kells76.
