Research Participants Needed

Coping With A Person with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) In The Family

Study Description & Purpose:  We are evaluating how persons with a relative with Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) are affected by their family member's emotional behavior, how they process it in real time, and how they cope as a result. Target Population  We are recruiting people who have a relative with BPD (immediate family member, spouse, or significant other). To participate, click on "more information".

Findings to be published for members to see
This survey has been fully subscribed and is now closed

Risk & Benefits: The information requested in this survey concerns your personal experiences in sensitive, emotional scenarios between you and your family member with BPD. Questions will ask about sensitive interpersonal topics, such as what types of emotional behavior you've witnessed from your family member with BPD, your thoughts and reactions to your family member's behavior, and how your family member's behavior affects you. The questions in this survey require you to look inwards, and observe your own thoughts and feelings. Doing so has the potential to give you increased mental understanding and clarity about yourself, and about your unique position as a relative of someone with BPD

Additional Information: You must have a relative with BPD to qualify. Estimated time to complete this survey is between 30 minutes. You will be encouraged to speak openly about your personal experiences. There is no compensation for participating.

This looks like a very good study! We encourage participation as the finding will provide insight to all of us.  I'd copy and save some of your essay answers to the survey - you may want to post 1 or more for discussion with the members here.

Thanks Andrew and Dr. Langston for your good work and your effort to bring more knowledge to this under-studied area.

This is a study that was being conducted by Andrew Towle who is a student at the above mentioned university.  He asked a series of true and false questions and others where you have a chance to type in your response.

It looks like he got the number of respondents he wanted and the study is closed now.   I was too late getting to it.
