My 20 year old daughter was just diagnosed with BPD after a suicide attempt and a stay in a psychiatric hospital. She has had issues with anxiety, depression and ADHD but thus is new and started a few months ago. I am shell shocked, scared, and don't know what to do or think.

Hi S.E,
I'd like to welcome you to bpdfamily, I'm sorry that you're going through this it has to be heartbreaking to see your D20 going through this. Do you have supportive family members or friends? Are you seeing a T. I'm glad that you decided to join us, it helps to talk to others that are going through similar situations like you that can offer you guidance and support. I can relate with having a D that's SI although my D13 cuts. I'm sure that this is a lot to absorb right now but I assure you that reading about BPD and becoming knowledgeable about it will be huge help. It helps to talk about it too.

Hi and welcome to the board! I am so sorry for what brings you here but glad you found us. Our parents on this board understand and several have been in the same shell-shocked place you are in right now. You are not alone anymore and we can support you as you adjust and navigate you way in your relationship with your daughter.
Had she tried suicide before or was her recent attempt also her first? Is she living at home with you now? Is she in treatment?
Sorry to hit you with so many questions. I do hope you share more as you settle in and read and jump into threads. It is important that you have a support system where it is safe to talk about your feelings and how this is affecting you in addition to trying to help your daughter.

Hi
S.E.819
Along with
Mutt
and
Harri
I welcome you, I'm glad you reached out, you are not alone, we've got you.
I'm so very sorry, it is shell-shocking, I've been exactly where you are right now, feeling scared, lost, overwhelmed, devastated, numb. I'd never heard of BPD, my beautiful daughter was diagnosed July 2015 and today she's managing her BPD and other diagnoses following DBT and meds, I want to share with you things can improve.
Along with friends here I look forward to getting to know you, feel free to ask me any questions too.

Hi S.E.819
I would like to join the others in welcoming you here.
I am sorry to hear of what brought you here, however, I just want to let you know that you are in the right place for help and support. I think most of us here can relate to feeling shell shocked and scared when we first arrived here, so you are definitely not alone.
Look forward to hearing more from you
