18 yo daughter diagnosed

Our 18 yo daughter has been in residential treatment and boarding school for the last 3 plus years. She has been labeled with BPD. She is getting ready to graduate and high school. She struggles with transition and identity. She has really been struggling with emotional regulation lately and had to be hospitalized in an adult psychiatric hospital last week because her school thought she might hurt herself. when she is in her wise mind, she is able to process and voice good choices, but in her emotional BpD state, she will not listen to anyone and does impulsive and manipulative behavior. We are pretty discouraged right now because she is our oldest. We don't know if she can go to college next year, even one close to home. We don't know if she will take her meds, be safe or even show up to class. She wants to be a therapist and has had several therapist say she has the personality for it, but we don't know at this point what she will be able to handle with the decreased level of support from where she is now with all kids of staff equipped to handle her behavior to college. Also, she has been on birth control for a few years. I read sometimes those with BPD don't do well on them. Any thoughts? Any meds you have seen any success with? Does it ever get better?
