First time poster here.
My wife has been diagnosed with BPD after a very tough 6 months for both of us. Things are improving but I'm still feeling very wary  and feel I need to keep some distance to protect myself (lots of things happened). As she has many physical health issues I consider myself more of a carer than a partner. How do you reckon I can get that closeness back again?

Thanks

A bit more details would help a lot. Many members also mention feeling a bit relieved just getting things off their chest and feeling heard, so let's give it a try

What kinds of things happened? what's improving?
