I feel tired. I am tired. I can’t sleep, though. No particular reason. No heavy thoughts at the moment. Just the random stuff that floats around daily. I miss my boy. Maybe that’s it. I don’t know. Does anyone else ever have trouble sleeping  when it feels like nothing is wrong?

What do your sleep cycles look like? Are you having trouble going to sleep? Sleeping but then waking at 2 or 3 AM?

I was waking at 3 AM and running on so little sleep that it was affecting my ability to function during the day. My therapist diagnosed a type of anxiety-based depression -- which happens when we deal with circumstances out of our control (my sister had inoperable, metastasized Stage IV breast cancer at age 31). He referred me to a psychiatrist who could prescribe the right meds, and I took a relatively short course of antidepressant that re-established my sleep cycle.

Hi, Gagrl. I usually wake before my alarm goes off. It’s set for 4:30. I do wake up in the middle of the night often. Midnight, 2’ish, 3’ish. I look at my phone and feel lucky to have a couple more hours to sleep. I’m forcing myself back into the gym starting tomorrow. I know that lifting and cardio reduce cortisol. Hopefully it will help with sleep.

I’m sorry to know about your sister.

I try to stay away from meds and look for natural supplements. Pills scare me. I witnessed what they did to my dad. He shot a hole in the ceiling with a shotgun during, what I would call, a manic episode. I’m very wary of pharmaceuticals.
