For the Lurkers:When we’re unsure of ourselves.

A repeating theme that I’ve noticed while being a member here is that newly arrived members fear that they have BPD or something of the like. I was the same way. It’s scary to feel unsure about what is going on with us. Uncertainty, when it comes to this stuff, is terrifying when you stack it on top of that fear and all of the other curiosities that brought us here. We’re alone with our questions and feelings. No one can relate. We feel alone. If you really think about it, it’s nice to know that our friends and family don’t get it. That simply means that they didn’t have to survive this kind of hardship. Still, we can be left alone with our trauma, and possibly made to feel like the persecutor or, at worst, “the crazy one”. So, we bottle it. Stored trauma is a pressure cooker with weak gaskets. I speak from experience.
Anyone lurking, reach out and make the first post. It took me 2 months of reading here before I did. Once I took the plunge and opened up a dialogue, everything has changed for the better. Join us.
