My mother's BPD (and her mother's BPD) has caused such massive rifts in our family, from generation to generation, that I am now LC or NC with my entire family.
And it hurts. I can see the root cause of it, the pain behind the words and actions of my family members, the toxic coping strategies we have all developed. But part of those strategies includes hurting one another. And I had to drop the rope, leave the game. And lost everyone in the process.

Lonelyrage,

I understand the frustration and anger that comes with being the only one to see what it is happening and how one person effects a family (for generations).  You will find that others here have gone through this and they will share their wisdom with you.

My heart goes out to you. Having a mother and grandmother with BPD impacts the family for generations, and you are LC or NC with the entire family. I too have a mother with BPD and many other family members with personality disorders: too many to list here. The tragedy of losing one's family to mental illness by having to limit contact to stay safe from all the cruelty is so painful.
