We have not tried neurofeedback with our son but I am interested in hearing more. I think some others have used it successfully. Let's see who chimes in.

Hi
smomruby
I've no personal experience either, though I did find these interesting and helpful threads of Rapt Reader and Lbj who did have experience way back.

Has it been suggested to you? Following DBT my DD and her new T is looking to next therapies for her, they're not quite there, deciding what though I will share with everyone here when I have news.

No one suggested it specifically to us, but someone in our area does it. I've seen them speak at a few events and it piqued my interest. I'd like to see improvement and they say they change the brain, not just mask symptoms with meds...
I would have to pay for each session, so wanted opinions before we paid for more stuff thats a waste of time.

Have you considered having one consultation with the person who's piqued your interest to share your situation and ask any burning questions?

I did speak to them but of course they said how fantastic it is etc. A skewed opinion for sure

Hum, guess that maybe a balanced view, then perhaps not
Are you any nearer to making a decision? Do you think it maybe something your DD may buy into?

There's an excellent book called
The Body Keeps the Score
by Bessel van der Kolk that discusses neurofeedback (as one of several possible treatments for chronic developmental trauma).
In my area neurofeedback can be expensive and for people with chronic developmental trauma. I've heard it can take months of sessions before improvements are experienced.
