Not sure where to post this, but is anyone else in relationship with someone with BPD who vomits constantly?
I've known something wasn't right with my husband for years and recently discovered he has BPD.
I also always encouraged him to ask the doctor why he spontaneously vomits several times a week...sometimes several times a day, but he doesn't tell him the truth about how often.
I googled whether there was any relation between BPD and vomiting not really expecting there to be a link, but apparently it's quite common.
Does anyone else have experience with someone with BPD who constantly vomits?

Hi VaticanCameos,

Folks with BPD can have eating disorders, but I would first have your husband talk with his doctor and have a thorough exam because you describe his vomiting as spontaneous.  There could be any number of causes.

Thanks, his doctor chalks it up to stress, but my husband hasn't confessed how frequent and random it is.
We can be sitting having a conversation and he'll suddenly jump up and run to the bathroom, barely making it in time and throw up-a LOT.
It's definitely not an eating disorder and could possibly be an ulcer. But, from the things I've seen regarding bpd and chronic vomiting, there IS a link. Researchers don't seem to understand the link though.

My uBPDw doesn't vomit regularly, but she vomits often enough that she has stored emesis bags in her purse and in all our cars just in case she needs them.  She has talked with her doctor about it and, as you experienced, it was chalked up to something unrelated to her mental illness.

My husband has those bags all over, too! He has them in the car, in the bedroom, and in the garage. There is an undeniable mind-body connection, I just wonder how vomiting is so closely tied to bpd.
