I decided to cut my mother out of my life yesterday. After 50 years of being on the receiving end of her passive aggressive digs and shots, hearing daily about how horrible her life is, listening to shots about my parenting and how horrible my souse is, I had my child (who overheard her) ask me why I let myself "take so much PLEASE READ" from their grandmother? I thought to myself, if this is crystal clear to a pubescent child, why the hell isn't it clear to me? Wrote her a letter cutting off all communication, and slept last night like I have not slept in decades.  Feel good now, but waiting for the guilt that has been ingrained in me to feel to kick in at some point.

Break the chain, welcome to bpdfamily!   Welcome new member (click to insert in post)  So glad you shared a bit of your story with us, although I'm sorry you're going through this with your mom.

I know it would be eye-opening for me if my child made a statement like that. Is that what led to yesterday's NC decision or was it an accumulation of behavior? Have you tried NC before?

It sounds like there is more to your story and we'd love to hear from you, so please share more when you're ready. In the meantime, check out the tools and resources on this site!

Hello.  I am joining pursuingJoy in saying Welcome

Please do share more of your story when you have time.  We all share and support each other here and it is a safe place to do so.

The guilt we feel can be a bear to deal with.  We can help you sort things out and learn to cope with that and any other emotions that may arise as the result of the changes you implemented.

Looking forward to eharing from you soon.  In the meantime, take a look around, read and post in other threads as you see fit.

Again, welcome

What was the final straw? What did you put up with for so long?
