Hi all.

I’m a Alex (32 male). I live with my family (wife and two young kids). My mother (person with BPD/BiPolar) moved in with us after my father passed away from a long and debilitating illness. I had the decision to be no contact or really grab the live wire as it were. I love my mother and I know this will be a challenge as everyone adjusts, and frankly even when everyone has adjusted I’m expecting challenges. I’m here for support and commiseration. I wake up most mornings knowing I’m going to be emotionally stabbed. The work of keeping myself regulated and feeling that pain of the person I love being hurt by my regular human actions is very hard. I know I can do it, but when I’m on the down side of her moods I hope to find I’m not alone in riding this roller coaster.

I’m glad to be here and plan to lurk a bit before jumping in.
Cheers
Alex

Hi Alex and welcome.

I hope you settle in and read and, when you are ready, jump in and post.  We understand here.  We may not share all of the same details in the challenges we face but probably many of them.

Again, Welcome

Hi, Alex955. Welcome new member (click to insert in post) Welcome to  bpdfamily. I’ll echo Harri in saying that we “get it” here. I lurked for about two months before finally becoming a member and finding the courage to post on the detaching board, and eventually found my way to the PSI (parent, sibling, in-law) board. I’m looking forward to interacting with you when you’re ready. We’re a peer based support group and we help each other here. I think you’ll find a lot of value in the resources that are available here. Looking forward to chatting in the future.
