I haven't posted an update lately on my son. There is not much change. He is still actively using and refusing treatment
He says he will go. My husband sets it up. DS then backs out at the last moment. Repeat. He still has two pending court cases one for trafficking the other for weapons possession. Neither has been resolved but I think the upshot is still going to be prison time.  I hope that part of his sentence will be mandated drug-treatment.  Meanwhile my life goes on. My husband and I are leaving for a cruise and enjoying ourselves while I recover from my stroke. Basically what I'm saying is Marsha Linehan is right. Even when there's problems life is still worth living. This is a life lesson I have learned the hard way.

Faith,
You encourage me and your story makes me think of our friend here, Huat. Your stroke scared me and made me realize all this “self care” talk is absolutely crucial for me to really internalize and take hold of.  We are like soldiers on the front line with these most difficult relationships and can be no use to anyone if we aren’t in good shape.
I’m cheering you on in your full recovery!

It warms my heart to hear how you are remaining positive with all the health challenges you have right now and the heartbreak over your son likely going to prison. I hope you really enjoy your cruise. At some point your son may realize that he is lucky to still have his parents in his life, as he will likely see that in prison/drug rehab most of the people no longer have any family supporting them.

Dear Faith. So happy to hear you will be on a cruise while rehabbing.  Enjoy and try not to worry.

You have done all that you can to the point of harming yourself and you deserve to drink a cocktail out of a giant hollowed out pineapple.

Thank you , Faith , for reminding us that there are positives in life as well.  I need reminding...
