Usually we can see a split coming or a change in behaviour for a few weeks leading up to it. But what’s the fastest split you’ve ever encountered?

This past November, my upwBPD and I were maintaining long-distance while he was working out of town. The days leading up and even the morning of was wonderful. It was technically our 2 year anniversary. He called that morning and we had a great chat. I messaged him a photo of my new haircut early in the afternoon and he told me how beautiful and gorgeous I was. Then I didn’t hear anything all evening but didn’t think much of it.

Around 8pm, I posted a photo of him to Instagram with a very casual “hey happy 2 years!” caption. He called me a few minutes later. His voice was very monotone and emotionless. He asked me to take the photo down and wouldn’t explain why. I took it down and finally got him to talk. We didn’t know about BPD then (this was literally days before I heard of it) but looking back he had completely split. He said he felt we weren’t in any place to celebrate 2 years together because things “hadn’t felt right” since he came home at thanksgiving. He was right- thanksgiving was an awful time for us. Anyway, I was pretty embarrassed and angry about the whole thing, and couldn’t understand what had gone so wrong over one simple photo. We talked for a long time that night and ended up breaking up. It also happened to be the night before my 30th birthday, ugh.

Anyway, we learned about BPD shortly after and started another long road to reconciliation. This happened very early November and by Christmas, we were in a much better place. I still won’t post photos of him on social media though  Laugh out loud (click to insert in post)

Has anyone else experienced just a fast split? It was just extremely hard to wonder what went so wrong in a matter of hours but now I understand BPD doesn’t always make sense. It does leave me with a lingering unease though, every time I don’t hear from him for more than a few hours. I always wonder if it’s happening again...
