Mod note: This post was split from the following thread as it merited its own discussion: https://bpdfamily.com/message_board/index.php?topic=342623.0

Is extreme blocking on text and social media a hallmark of BPD or do others do it as well?

My exUndiagnosed BPD - I mentioned I saw her IG account and it appeared she has a new BF, and I actually wished her well if she was happy, and she enacted so angrily and paranoid and got retribution on me like I had burned down her house or something ...

Hmm. I've been blocked by other exes, but it hasn't ever been so abrupt. There's usually been a period where we didn't get on, or an actual argument, or a reason (I've also blocked others for these reasons). I think the sudden nature of the break ups/blocking with pwBPD might be what makes it distinctive... perhaps not a 'hallmark of BPD' but a common trend within these kinds of relationships?

She never blocked me on social, I had to do it.

Excerpt
Demonstrative of moving on with little difficulty is how she hasn't removed me from any communication channels and sees everything I do, yet I have been forced to remove her activity from my sight lest I have daily panic attacks as my brain now sees her as a threat.

This. It really shows, at least in our case, their total indifference after discard. They don't hate, they don't love, they don't feel, we are just a random contact at this point, no more no less. Utterly irrelevant.
