Losing my Mum

I have now been living with my parents during Lockdown for close to 7 weeks.  I am pretty sure my mum has BPD or enough of the symptoms to make it academic.  I did snap back at her, though considering the aggression and malevolence that has been coming from her more off than on for the past few weeks, I can't feel that bad about it.  My mother on the other hand responded with - I have no respect for her, I obviously don't care about her feelings and as for what I said to her 6 weeks ago …. etc etc.  I made her so upset that she felt too sick to eat dinner.  I know she has put herself and Dad out a lot to have me back but ….

Wow, that is tough living with them during a pandemic.  Prior to lockdown, what was your living situation?

Did something in particular happen 6 weeks ago?

I hope you share more and read.  You will see that a lot of us struggle with some of the same behaviors from our loved ones and we all help each other figure out strategies for managing and coping.

Hello, CountryLiving75. It sounds like it’s been pretty unsettling to be cooped up with your mom. Please don’t beat yourself up for snapping back at her. A person can only take so much. Especially under current conditions.

What you described sounds like a person that is dumping their bad feelings onto you, and taking no responsibility for them. Has this been the typical dynamic throughout your childhood, adolescence and up until now?

How are things looking for you in the near future? Will you have to stay there much longer?
