My Sister Has BPD

Hi,
This is my first post on here. I'm reaching out because my therapist and multiple online articles have encouraged me to focus on reaching out and finding assistance in other groups online. My older sister suffers from BPD and has been a source of dissarray in my life for the last 6-7 years. I love her, but she has mostly never been able to reciprocate nor openly express anything for me besides contempt or anger. She treats my parents with the same intensity and has driven a wedge between them. The hard thing is knowing that she loves all of us and that we love but but also being abused quite a bit. I recently cut off contact with her after a really verbally abusive text fight and at this point I don't know if I ever want to resume contact. I am still at home as a minor with my parents but she is away in college. I thought our relationship was getting better but recently it just got super intense. She threatened sending me a video of her killing herself and bashed on me and my whole family. I have done so much research since I was young on her condition and I always have tried to be empathetic and kind and helpful. She just cannot see that, which is to be expected. I am wondering if there is anyone else out there who struggled with this same thing and if you have gotten through it. What is it like for you now? Are you still in contact with them? I am doing good, as I am numb to this kind of treatment at this point from her, but I am just curious.

I am very sorry to hear that things are so difficult for you right now, and it is great to see you reaching out for help and support - a very brave and scary thing to do!

I would also like to encourage you to talk to your school counselor or school social worker about your struggles right now.  Having a person to confide in can be very helpful.
