hi seasons3,

Have you ever googled the anger iceburg?  In my experience, anger is an emotion that sometimes hides deeper, less comfortable emotions (shame, sadness, guilt, etc).  Because it's more comfortable to stick with anger, as it can feel empowering, it is most often the emotion that somebody like me (and maybe you if we are similar), wants to stick to.

When I went through therapy, I delved into the other less comfortable feelings.  It is important to feel, embrace, and expericence all one's emotions, in order to be a whole person.  yes, it's uncomfortable, but exploring what's underneath the anger can be a great growth experience.

Sometimes, punching a pillow, or going out into the middle of the woods and yelling at the top of my lungs is also helpful to me, to get the anger out.  It is important not to take out one's anger on other people.  It's just a feeling, afterall, and has no power over you.
