Hi gang! I was on here a bit in the past. The diagnosis was official and agreed upon by three professionals as possibly BPD or complex PTSD presentation. It doesn't matter. The diagnosis has made my daughter motivated to examine and modify her behavior. It has also given me  permission to not accommodate her demands.

We have been in chaos after chaos, and most recently a severe car accident with a cop driving 89 mph. I coded several times and my daughter was entirely blamed. Now that it is 5 year out and I am much better, I see that I was treated as a dollar sign with enough brain damage to be accommodated but irrelevant.

I'm more furious with the legal nonsense than the diagnosis. The Dx is a huge relief. My daughter is motivated to not demonstrate unhealthy behaviors. Now that I can exert boundaries and demonstrate my independence. She is catching on to the fact that I won't tolerate her behavior much longer so she needs to reel it in or be alone. She is graduating in May.

I am also looking to move several hours away for a year just to see what it is like. I've been trapped at home as a disabled nobody, meanwhile I got awards for my resilience, was put in a calendar ballroom dancing because of my efforts at recovery, and just had a children's book published even though I have a traumatic brain injury.

I am delighted to barely glance at the dozen or so men that have consumed and discarded me because I was disadvantaged with a BPD kid, disabilities, an abusive ex. I am simply happy and grateful. And very pissed.

Thank you for letting me share

This seems like a big deal. How did you feel when you finally got the "official" diagnosis? I'm just in awe that not only did 3 professionals agree, but also that your D accepted it. Wow -- I hear you about it being a huge relief.

This just sounds so much healthier and lower stress for you guys. Remind me, does she still live with you? Do you want her to, if so?

Relatable, when you've been through what you have, and have a child with a PD.

Keep us posted...
