The week of siege is here
«

This coming week, there will be a celebration of life for a family member. Many family members who have scapegoated me my whole life will be in town. I plan to attend the celebration of life and nothing else. My life has gotten so much better since I went low contact and no contact with my most toxic relatives. People outside the family are treating me much bettter than in the past, as my self esteem has improved so has my likeability, and my ability to reach out and make friends with healthy people continues to improve. I plan not to be home most of the time, as many of my toxic relatives are going to come to visit. I know better than to go to any of the family gatherings , as when I have been there I was attacked in front of the whole group and nobody has defended me, instead being told I deserved to be mistreated because how I have gone against the family. (The reality is I have stood up for myself and others who are mistreated, and refused to enable the abusers. Narcissists and narcissistic families live in fear of being seen for who they really are behind their masks.) I am sleeping well and not all upset like I used to be about having to deal with my toxic relatives. I know certain relatives are angry that I refused to rent my house to them and leave the place to them while having to find a very expensive rental for myself. I will be relieved when the week is over.

That's super, zachira!
It is a relief to set strong boundaries with people you don't trust or like. Just ignore them and hope you have a wonderful and relaxing week ahead.

TelHill,
Thank you for your well wishes! I have now survived the week of siege though there are more family reunions in the next couple of months.

Great job, zachira! There are a few family members who I wouldn't mind seeing. It seems the ones with issues catch wind of it and complain. It seems safer to stay away from all. I miss the nice family members though.
