Feeling hopeful!

Good morning to all of you. As I sit here and write to you, I am worn out, exhausted, and in despair. And at the same time, I am for the first time in 15 years, feeling hopeful. I have been dealing with my 28 year old son, Who I have always known had some form of illness… But did not know how to pursue that. Or how to talk to him. Or how to help him. Or how to help myself. As a result I spent most of his life enabling him.
Some of you, a friend gave me a book to read, and it has started me on a journey. And that is how I came to find this community. It is so hard to talk to people about my son and his issues and my issues, because most Normies don’t have a clue. Our whole family is disrupted right now And I am truly hoping that working together all of his siblings and extended family can start helping him in the right way.
That is all I know to write at this point in time. I trust that most of you have been through hell and back and probably know more about what has gone on than I do!
The book that I read plus all of the other websites in research that it pointed me to has been a godsend, and I know registering for this website and talking to people who understand and who have been through it is going to be life-changing.
P.S. Please excuse any typos, I am using voice recognition on my phone as I am recovering from shoulder surgery.

Hello and welcome to the family! I hope your shoulder is healing nicely.
Please fill us in a little, what sort of chaos are you dealing with right now?
This site is a fantastic resource that allows you to learn a whole lot quickly, while also receiving validation that you're not the problem. The more you can share about your specific journey though, the more the advice and guidance will help.
Hang in there- it does get better!
Let's start with some basics:
Does your 28 year old live with you? Is he working? Is he in a relationship? Is he in therapy?
Give us a little bit more of a picture of your family dynamic and where things aren't working.
