Need hope

I really need some hope that things will change with my daughter. She is at a good therapeutic boarding school, but since we started the extended guardianship process she is miserable and continues to state how awful the school is and what she is missing at home. I'm also grieving what she would have missed out on if all was well with her (basketball, track, scholarship to college etc.). Her therapist is getting really discouraged with her. I'm not ready to accept that she will struggle the rest of her life with her emotional dysregulation, but that is what it is looking like. She is playing her games with the staff, teachers and other students at the school to gain control. She is so miserable she started cutting and when she couldn't find anything to cut with she scratched her arm so bad she ended up with a big open wound that got infected.
Love to hear some positive vibes to get me through.

How long has your d been at the RTC?
My d didn't really take responsibility for why she was at RTC, her own actions, her attitude, or her own recovery until about month 4.
She did a lot of "fronting" and playing victim for the first 3 months.
What is the peer accountability program at the RTC she is at?

She has been there seven months. I'm not sure what they call their peer accountability program. I know they have a lot of success. It seems the other girls are doing a lot better and moving to the next phase where she is stuck. I know she has progressed some, but her therapist has stated that it appears she will most likely always struggle with her emotional dysregulation and feels that when she graduates we might want consider her not coming back home. He states he is now just trying to make her aware of how she shows up, how she pushes everyone away as she continues to blame everyone else.
I'm really starting to believe she was born with this mental illness. Her birth mother was drunk when she gave birth and was also a smoker.
Recently she had a run in with her math teacher to the point he stopped talking to her. She stated that he was being disrepectful toward her, where the therapist stated that her teacher is tired of her disrespect.
We really like the program and sometimes she really does appear she is progressing. Since the extended guardianship she seems to have regressed. My friends kepts telling me two steps forward one step back.
