My daughter was married to a narcissist.  A cruel and controlling monster of a man.  She stayed with him and endured his hidden abuse for 7 years.  They had two children, about a year apart.  Once she realized he was inflicting the intense abuse on them, she fled.  She had endured but was not about to allow him to continue with the abuse on her children.  For two years she has been fighting through the courts.  She is divorced and has sole legal custody.  He has objected to everything, filed appeals in Appeals Court and the State Su[preme Court.  Denies everything.  "I am a good father and a good person, it is her that is disturbed."  Claims of abuse are all "made up".

I am so sorry your daughter had to endure all that, it sounds awful. But there are many others on this website that have endured something very similar. BPD and NPD have many similarities, both will deny wrong doing, as you point out, both create trauma in similar ways. My brother is NPD, but thankfully never married.  Your daughter may be interested in the following board, it’s about coping with the breakup. Your daughter has been through a lot. How is your daughter doing now and how are her kids?

Being abused is horrible and I am sorry your daughter and her kids experienced that. In what ways was her ex-husband abusive?
