Hello everyone,

I am grateful to have found this community. I have a background in Al Anon (support group for friends and family of alcoholics), and my wife and I both attend meetings regularly. Although neither of us drink alcohol, we were each raised in alcoholic homes and as a result have developed unhealthy behaviors that go back to early childhood. We became sicker than the alcoholics in our lives in many ways. Now I find myself in need of learning more about BPD.

Here is why and what I hope to get from it:

Recently, my wife's therapist shared that she meets the criteria for BPD.That has added another layer to our mental health journey. Just like I needed Al Anon to help me understand the disease of alcoholism and its effects on others, now I am also faced with the same task only with BPD. I need the support of others who are dealing with this and a safe place to share. I'm here to learn, listen, and gain strength from the experience, strength, and hope of others living with a BPD loved one.

My goal is to continue growing in understanding, compassion, and healthy boundaries while supporting my wife. I also want to become healthier myself and learn to protect my own serenity. I look forward to posting and reading others shares in the future
