Our 16 year old son has been in a RTC for 6 months, his discharge date is schedule for next month. He decided to run away from there because "I was ready for discharge." After, he had a huge blow up and assaulted staff, had to be restrained and sedated. Since this happened last weekend, they said that his discharge date remains because he has reached his limit of the program being beneficial and if he stays there, he will only regress... .They suggested that he go to another RTC or go home and do a day program. We have 4 other kids who are scared for him to come home. So we are scared that a day program while living in the home won't work. So, I have been steadily calling every RTC in Texas (where we live) and several out of state, but the problem is that these places are $6,000-$20,000 per month? The ones that I have found that are willing to work with the fees, the average stay is only 5 days. We need something much longer (minimum of 90 days) My question is... .does any body have any recommendations for RTC in the States that doesn't require you to live in a box on the side of the road?

--He has medicaid (but they don't cover much) -- I am looking into what it would cost to get him an insurance plan, and what the costs would be with Insurance... .but I am completely lost!

Hello Forever25 and welcome.

I’m afraid I don’t have any knowledge about what you are asking about, I just wanted to reach out and welcome you.

Please don’t quote me here but I’m pretty certain that I have read posts on here before about insurance and I think it depends on the diagnosis as to whether you can get insurance or not.

I am also giving you this link and I will say I’m not sure how helpful it will be for you, scroll down to Lesson 6, hopefully you might find something useful there x
