My child has emerging traits according to her psychiatrist. I am going nuts dealing with the verbal assaults as I suffer PTSD. There is no respite and I need tools etc in order to manage this.

Hi butterfly7  Welcome new member (click to insert in post)

Welcome to bpdfamily.

I'm glad you've joined parents here for support, though sorry what's brought you, your daughter has emerging traits and the verbal assaults are driving you nuts. Parents are in similar situations to you, you are not alone.   It sounds like you've been dealing with this for some time, and tools can certainly help you. How old is your daughter?

A good place to start is Lessons: What can a parent to do and read through to Lesson 3 Tools for solving problems and diffusing emotions, begins with learning a new way of responding and listening to our loved ones. There are quick links to tools and lessons to your right  Bullet: important point (click to insert in post) though I recommend you start with the full lessons that include explaining behaviours such as projection and work your way to Lesson 3.

Which tools do you think may help your situation? Some are counterintuitive and may take some practice.

Is there anyone else at home with you and your daughter butterfly7, do you have support of family, a friend?

Good to meet you and look forward to talking more.

Hello butterfly7,

I would like to join wendydarling in welcoming you here, and to say how sorry I am to hear of what you are going through.

Dealing with someone we love who has BPD is difficult at the best of times, I can only imagine how it must be for you, having your own PTSD issues to deal with as well

How are you managing your PTSD, are you in therapy? We always say here that you need to take care of yourself before you can take care of someone else. That is so important for you butterfly7.

You say “there is no respite”, does that mean that you are on your own with this or do you have some kind of support system in place?

Hope to hear more from you butterfly7 x
