Just curious what kind of experience others here have with restraining orders, also known as Orders of Protection in most states in the U.S.

With a BPD, maybe better questions are how are they used by BPDs and how should you use them?
Q: How does a BPD use a (temporary) restraining order?
A: As a tool for evicting you and robbing you of any shared belongings.
Q: How should you use them?
A: As a pathway for criminal charges.
Others please chime in with what they've experienced.

Hi BigOof,
Thank you but the thread was intended for the Parents With board. I'm curious if a BPD parent has served anyone here with one, or...if anyone has successfully served a parent. The poll was just to get an idea of if it even happens. Then I wanted to ask for details of how it was possible to even do it. I mean, what does one have to prove to get a restraining order against their Mom?
My BPD mom used to grab me by my ponytail and swing me around as a kid. I guess if she came to my house and did that (uninvited, after I asked her not to show up), then maybe I'd have a pretty good case against her? I'm not sure that a text dual would be enough, however, unless there were actual threats of bodily harm made. I don't know though, hence the poll.
