Neither the GAL nor BPD's lawyer is responding now

Our lawyer has been trying to contact the GAL and BPD mom's lawyer for over two weeks... . they will not respond. He is trying to set a date for mediation. I suspect BPD mom has not paid either one, and I doubt she ever will. I feel like the GAL is hoping the situation will go away or something--I mean, he could at least call our attorney and let him know that he has not been fully paid if that is the deal.
Just would like an end date in sight--I don't even care what the end is.

I guess we could try as well--that is the thing, though. I KNOW our attorney has been calling frequently and leaving messages, emails, etc. with the GAL. He has not been as diligent with the other attorney, but he needs the GAL's info first anyway.

I know in my case, the day we were supposed to show up in court, I got a call from MY lawyer saying "Mauser, um, do you know where your husband is? His lawyer just called me, and she hasn't been able to contact him. She's been emailing and leaving messages for weeks but he never responds. She can't find him."
In his case, it wasn't the money. But you know, if you just ignore problems, they just go away, right? Considering it was entirely HIS idea to get a divorce, it was always surprising how he could never finish the paperwork, never schedule mediation, never do ANYTHING to follow through.

I'm going through the same thing. Only thing your lawyer can do is file a motion to compel. Get the court involved and you'll see results.

Yeah, I think your lawyer has to contact the court - maybe file a motion that will flush them out and make them appear in court.
He can then tell the judge that this has been a problem and ask for them both to return calls in a timely way.
Unfortunately the legal profession doesn't always see "a timely way" the way everyone else does. Many lawyers don't return their calls every day. But at least the court will be notified that there is a problem, and the GAL and the other party's attorney will be on notice too.
There may be a silver lining here though. Some of the cases that go bad, it's because the lawyers are making deals behind their clients' backs. It may actually be best for the process to be out in the open and the attorneys to talk to each other only rarely or when you are in the room.

This is news to me, Matt--hearing this, it is possible that the GAL (an attorney) and BPD mom's attorney are trying to make a deal? I seriously doubt our attorney would be going behind our backs (only because we have known him for years before this case).

No, I'm not suggesting it's happening in your case. If you've known your attorney for years, and he tells you he can't reach the GAL or the other attorney, they must not be talking.
I'm only saying that it's good they're not talking
too
much. It's important that your attorney get your agreement before presenting anything to the other side, or your position can be undermined.
