Sometimes my ex seems normal, and like he truly cares. Confusing...

I was convinced I could have disappeared forever and he wouldn't have given it a second thought then something happened the other night where I was drunk, stopped responding to him and my phone was powered off for almost a day. He was completely losing it. When I turned phone back on I had multiple messages and texts from him freaking out trying to make sure I'm okay. He said he was scared to death and was going to come to my house if he hadn't heard back from me by the time he got out of work. Sadly this was the first time in a long time I really felt like I wasn't just a marionette in his sick little game... .Do they care about us? Most of the time he is cold and sarcastic, except when he is drunk, so I was surprised he was so concerned and that it actually seemed genuine. I guess sometimes I forget that he's a human being... .

A cruel paradox. Both saddening and maddening, at the same time.
