VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

First of all this is not a post banning guns, it is the fear that my BPD ex can get a gun legally. I have no problem with gun ownership for individuals that meet criteria, I do think current law is correct and that anyone with a domestic violence charges should not have a gun. I filed an order of protection the first time because he tried to poison me and the second time I just feared for my life and did not want him to have a gun. If the law is not upheld with the Supreme Court, I will need to go into deep hiding and live more in fear of my life. My BPD ex has always acted erratic and with a gun, I believe in time he would shot me given the chance out of revenge. We talk about no contact, I had to get the order of protection to make sure I had no contact.

I can not give advice but only my experience. Today I have tried to make myself invisible and I do not do anything to agitate him. I think that BPD can have differing degrees of bad, mine ended up in physical and mental abuse to the point I had to get the state to issue the order of protection which is now permanent. At this time I am having a difficult time trying to get him to follow the order of protection, I get strange calls and know that he has driven by my house. He is also supposed to provide change of address and email, all unsuccessful. The sad part is that his address is still listed as my address and it is hard to get the court to enforce the provisions of the order. The only thing the order does, is promise that any violation is punishable by one year in jail. At least there is the fear of conscience and that he can not have a gun today. I know that he could get an illegal gun, but if he is caught with it; there would be sever repercussions.

I had recycled with this guy multiple times and each time I recycled was worse consequences for me.  I honestly thought that I could fix him because each time he would come back, he promised to end the abuse. In the two years that I was with this person the abuse got worse and worse. My BPD ex would try and see which new boundary he could cross next. The day that I put an end to this was the beginning of me saying no more. BPD and domestic violence goes hand in hand. With him having a legal or illegal gun will put my life in danger for a long time. The BPD can pop up at anytime. Having an order of protection is some comfort now but could limit my rights to live in peace and with out fear.

It sounds like he is violating the PO, right? Are you in contact with local DV resources for support?
