VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

i have started to reveal the truth gently, apparently i was not providing for my 19 yo daughter, but the reality was i always have

and no she is starting to see the truth and wants to come for a visit in the future

i am contacting the college directly and removing my ex's control of the situation

Hi married21years

I'm glad to see that you're getting more contact with your daughter and she's opening herself up to dialogue. Things can be confusing for young adults and distinguishing truths and lies is a step forward for everyone. Congratulations on your progress with your CODA group, yes there is hope and future.  Smiling (click to insert in post)

Hi married21years,

Welcome

I would feel sad and hurt if my daughter had not talked to me for almost a year. It sounds like things are moving in a positive direction for you. What did it take for your D and friend to see the light? Did they turn around on their own or did it take some coaxing?
