Is it very common for BPD's to have 0 friends? my BPDbf has about 3 friends ive met & and they are the only ones he talks about. 0 high school friends/old friendships 1 work(who warned me not to get involved with him because him and his family are crazy especially his father but i had already but with him for 6months), 2 friends hes met on the internet (who all dodge him or stands him up when we try to have all our friends meet up). I tell him to make friends at work and practice nice small talk but the small talk turns right away into strange weird talk that push others away. Do other non BPD's find the same issues with their BPD's?

Yes very common. They will ultimately burn every bridge they have as they see people as a form of supply and get scared when anyone gets close. I should have known something was wrong when my ex hand only one acquaintance who lived in this state. All her friends were in other states.

I didn't notice the significance of this until after our divorce.  My ex-wife only had 2 friends.  One that lived half a state away and the other she drank with across the street. I would beg her to go out with friends so she would get off my rear and let me breathe.  Then maybe we would have something else to talk about other than how sad she was or how I had disappointed her.  She never did and she just kept picking me apart.  It was never her fault for anything but always someone else's, mostly mine.

BPD is very broad as we learn here, my 29 daughter has always had strong friend relationships, many that have continued since childhood, so I guess she's at one end of the spectrum regarding friendships. Interesting.
