Hi I’m trying to decide on the best course of treatment for my dd18. Her psychiatrist said that for DBT to be delivered properly a person had to attend individual and group sessions concurrently.
I have found clinics 4 hours away that will do this so I will have to drive my daughter down weekly.
One clinic is a 24 week commitment because group skills are 90 mins, the other is 15 weeks because sessions are 3 hours long.
Has anyone seen a loved one do 15 weeks and get results? My inclination is to do the 24 weeks so skills can really be reinforced but 15 weeks would sure be easier financially and time wise.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Louski,
My DD was in a full time out patient program for maybe 10 weeks. She did work thru the handbook and learned how to use the Skills chart. After that intensive she went to a local T who was DBT trained but didn’t have the group session.
I believe everything she’s been thru has been a learning experience, but I think her skills fell away bc she didn’t stay in the program long enough.

If your DD is up for it, it really can empower her! Thinking of you as you move forward here!
