She seemed okay and then...

After a long period of calm (around half a year), I admitted to my mom a couple of days ago that DH prefers to be in email contact, after everything (i.e. TONS of emotional crap) that has happened over the past 4 years. She wants to know how I FEEL, but I've been down that road before and it's futile. She understands for a while, but never really changes, because it's her personality to get offended eventually. I did say my T could talk to hers. She was completely calm on the phone and thanked me for my honesty.
The next day, apparently she got upset and left the house in a fit of sadness, as enDAD called me and told me this info and that I should call her to say hi. Yeah, right, thanks Dad. She did this when I was a kid, too, and I used to be really frightened and got her to promise she'd return (i.e. not hurt herself, which always seemed to be an unstated danger).
Not really sure what the point of this post is, but not really in the mood for anything else.

I hope I'm not being presumptuous but are you tired? These relationships can take it out of a person.
Sometimes taking a break to recharge and find those bearings again helps. Self care is important. How is that going?

GreenMango has a good point--this can be exhausting, especially if you feel like you're your mother's biggest source of emotional support.

Sometimes it just helps to get your feelings out.
Has your father heard from your mother since? Do you feel like there's something you need to do, either for yourself or for your mother?

I ignored my father's call completely. I spoke to them both the next day (as if nothing had happened). They had come down with flu or something, so it was pretty benign. I am indeed tired. Even these small situations just sap energy. Thanks for responding
