Unsure whether it belongs to this category. Today I am resuming contact with my mother and I am not sure whether I am ready. I will do my best to stay in the present and will honor & respect my boundaries. I will not attempt to change her or alleviate the scars of her past. I will accept what she tells me as her view on things (she has the right to her side of the story) and will do my best to validate what she says. Finally, when facing challenges, I will be good and patient with myself. I think I am ready.

Thanks Blazing Star. That went well (enough) and I have realized that the basics are pretty much staying in the present and being gentle on myself.

You sound both brave and strong. I have been considering resuming contact with my BPDm also, so I understand it is a challenging decision. My T and I were talking about this recently. She reminded me that even if my making contact turns out to be a "mistake", I will still he able to take care of myself. It sounds like that will be true for you, too. You have done a lot of work on you and it sounds like you are ready. And you know you have support if something comes up.

I hope you will keep us posted on how things go. Good luck. :-)

Wishing you peace,

PF

Hi Catsprt

That sounds to me like a healthy, balanced and positive way forward. I like the way you've written it and I think I should lie to have your strength and humility in moving forward with the difficult people in my life.

All the very best to you with it. x
