BPD and Graduating High School

Of the 2 dozen or so pwBPD that I know... .  Not one of them graduated high school.  How do the rest of you who know pwbBPD hold true with this?  Just wondering.  About 80-85% moved out by the age of 15 or 16 and never graduated.

Mine graduated high school.  Also graduated college at the top of her class.  Very "high functioning"... .  nobody else sees what I see & deal with.

Come to think of it... .  even the some what and relativly functioning ones in that list did'nt graduate... .  Correction 2 barely did.

My bf BARELY graduated. He had like a GPA in the 2.something region. As someone who's never gone below a 3.5 my whole life, his GPA makes me cry. He pretty much gave up senior year and nearly failed all of his classes. He essentially thought school was really stupid, and that an arbitrary number shouldn't indicate whether you are intelligent or not. I do find this true to some extent, but you can be a genius and never put effort into anything and you still won't accomplish ___ in life. The fact that he seemed to "give up" will show up on his transcripts and that's all people are going to see - they won't immediately assume he's stupid, but they'll see his work ethic leaves something to be desired, and that is what's going to screw him over.

And here's the funny part - he has the same attitude about school, yet he wants to go to college! Ha!

Dealing with a kid now at work with the same delusion... .  has a 1.5 GPA and has great college aspirations.  Hates school with a passion, may still not pass this year... .  Hmmmmmmmm... .  Shows many BPD traits... .

Mom and sis both display BPD traits.  Mom hated school and by her accounts was a C average student.

Sis hated school with a passion and convinced parents to let her do a homeschool curriculum her final two years.  Had fluctuating grades before then and dismal to the end. I should have spoke up and said it was none of my biz, but mom showed me the results of a graduation assessment test sis had to take.  She only came in at the 9th grade level on anything.  She has aspirations of possibly going to college someday, but still hates school.

I'm not aware of any correlation between BPD and high school graduation.  Many pwBPD are highly intelligent and highly educated.  I've read about BPD doctors, lawyers, Ph.D's, ministers, teachers, business executives, etc.  It runs the gamut.

I tend to notice that the ones you mention tend to be more NPD than BPD.  The reasoning being, " I am great... .  look at me I am smart, sucessful, rich good looking... .  "

Oh I'm not saying my bf isn't intelligent. He's extremely intelligent - really good with numbers. He just didn't have the drive - which can actually be the downfall of people without BPD as well. He just has a very childish view of school  - "Oh, this assignment is stupid and pointless, so I'm not going to do it." And then he fails the class because he turned nothing in. He also thinks he already knows everything about everything, so nothing any teacher is going to tell him is going to be any news to him, or they're just blatantly wrong 

I'm sure many people with BPD are successful, I'm just saying yes, I have a bf who has strong BPD traits and who didn't do very well in high school.

FWIW, my wife graduate HS with honors, and attended 2 years of college before dropping out.  I also know a couple of people with BPD who have graduated from college.  Your mileage may vary, of course.
