We've been broken up a week as of today, and it's been the most fantastic week. Just feeling happy and safe in my home, knowing no one here will be mean to me, it's just so freeing. Knowing I got myself out of an abusive relationship and just being in the moment... .it's been great.

Saw Carmel "my ex" today and we spent a couple hours together with the cats. It was fine. We both feel like we did the right thing, that we need to be broken up, and we're cool with it.

There were some ups and downs this week, and there will be more, but I just wanted to stop in to say that this break up, this living without her, is the best thing that's happened to me in ages.

Peacebaby,

For my money, this could be a "success story" just about as good as the legendary Steph story on this forum.  Doing the right thing (click to insert in post) Maybe even better, because it's not quite as anomalous-seeming as her case of a complete and total recovery on the part of her husband. It just makes darn good sense, too. Congratulations on taking this big step after such a long struggle.

Please keep dropping by from time to time to update.

Nice start. It's a long way out of the woods. Got your flashlight?

Thanks, KateCat. I think Steph's husband was on the BPD-lite-depression side of the spectrum, and their being apart was necessary to their recovery. I wish we'd been able to do it sooner but that's the way it is. It's SO NICE not worrying about her problems any more, that her problems have no connection to my life. It rocks.

Oh, I plan to come around here. Even though I understand why I stayed in that relationship, I have a lot of codependancy work to do. To put it mildly. Smiling (click to insert in post)
