VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

I have no watched the Disney movie frozen twice in the last 24 hours with my kids.  (Don't ask... they love it).   But I was very much struck by it.  The princess Anna meets a prince amongst other things and they quickly fall in love.  But *spoiler alert* the price turns out to be a serious npd if not a sociopath.  Telling her he was only using her and she was so easily manipulated because she was so desperate to be loved.

At that part of the movie my 16 year old daughter yells out plot twist.

Which made me think.  This is a plot twist of my life.  My life is reality not fairy tale but this is only one twist in my life's grand plan.  I made a mistake, many of them in fact... . but that doesn't define me or make me a bad person... .

It simply means that I need to learn something from it and move on to my next adventure.

In some ways that helps me to put a more objective perspective on it... . so I thought I would share

Too funny.  I have watched it twice as well.  It's my 11-year-old's current favorite movie.  What I find myself singing (badly, but, whatever... . ) is that one Demi Lovato song, "Let it go... . "

I've made plenty of mistakes too.  And, I did not expect this plot twist either.  But, like you, I'm gonna pick myself up -- "let it go" -- and follow those Detachment steps to freedom.

Thanks for sharing.  You aren't "allmessedup" -- you're getting better.  We're learning.

Too funny. I keep that song in my head too... . it has a good message.

We all are learning!  I am a different person today then I was 2 months ago... . and I like her better:).

We will all get there... . it just takes time and a whole lot of work!
