My ex used to end up crying in my bed after nights out drinking telling me more and more secrets about her ex, how bad he'd treat her, how she took an overdose and went on anti-depressants, she lost her job because of it etc etc

Is this a way of pushing you away?

The more you know the closer you are therefore in there warped brain it's an excuse to get out of the r/s

With a normal women it shows trust but they ain't normal

my ex did they same thing, while sober though. it is pull/push tactics like you suggest.

my ex told me absolute horror stories about her past relationships. of course, she portrayed herself as the victim.
