VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

When I read some of the posters here who have been through so much pain and are just "being here" which is a huge accomplishment, i am inspired.  I am humbled... I am grateful to them for having the courage to heal and come here and share and support others.  I mean, being married to for years, having children with a PD person and suffering the pain similar to mine when i only had three years and no kids is unbelievable. Seriously amazing. For those of us who endured small amounts of time in comparison, lets not underestimate our pain because of it either. I hear the "it was only a short term, but I am feeling terrible and don't understand why" posts too.

Pain is pain .  Thank goodness we have each other here.

Right on corraline!  Smiling (click to insert in post)

I especially liked your comment about pain.  My T set me straight when I tried to minimize and compare my pain to others'.   Pain is pain, and I believe compassion and gratitude (like you have expressed here) are like balm to anyone who is hurting.

Thank you for this post   I have actually not responded to certain topics because I didn't feel I was  damaged enough  to reply... I have felt selfish about having trouble coping because It just doesn't seem as bad as what others have been through ... Thank you so much
