VIDEO: "What is parental alienation?" Parental alienation is when a parent allows a child to participate or hear them degrade the other parent. This is not uncommon in divorces and the children often adjust. In severe cases, however, it can be devastating to the child. This video provides a helpful overview.

"It is a riddle, wrapped in a mystery, inside an enigma."

-Winston Churchill 1939

He was talking about Russia at the time, but I've been thinking of it lately and it seems like what many of us are going through. I've heard this quote most of my life, but this r/s with a pwBPD (undiagnosed, but c'mon) helps me understand it more. You can never get to the bottom of this. No matter how many layers we peel back, there are always more. No matter how hard we look, we won't be able to see it all. You might get all zen with your FOO, and good for you, it's probably better, but there's no end to the questions, the loss, the pain. No one here has really figured this out, have they? Or a cure? We're just guessing, collating facts, judging, walking away. It's said the intensity fades with time and effort.  Some of us even (try to) let go of letting go. Accepting it keeps going/never ends.

I love quotes from the great Winston Churchill and that quote is bang on. I think understanding the basics of the disorder and we all have people in our lives with different twists on this spectrum disorder. If you try to unravel the illogical and maladaptive coping skills a little too much, I think it tends to make you feel sick to a degree. It's trying to apply a healthy mind around a disordered one and not fully grasping it because we just don't think that way. It's chaos in the disorder and accepting the world for it's imperfections. I'll radically accept it at that point for what is because I'll never make sense of every act or verbal communication from my ex. I'll have basic speculations and that puts my mind at ease.

AJ Mahari recovered BPD and life coach on radical acceptance.

Excerpt
Radical Acceptance requires that you change the direction that you allow your mind to go in. It requires that you accept that you have the ability to act with the power of choice and that most things we think and do are choices. Practicing acceptance, actually being accepting of whatever is, is a choice. It is a choice that brings with it emotional freedom. It is a choice that replaces chaos and suffering with manageable pain and in time, peace of mind.

Radical Acceptance practice allows us to unearth the very root causes of so much of our emotional angst and suffering.
