NAMI

As mentioned in another thread, my DH and I attended our first NAMI support meeting last night. It was more or less a get to know your situation type of meeting. It was nice to be around people going through the same ordeal (3 couples and about 5 solo members). My DH and I were the youngest ones there and had the youngest child. On one hand, knowing that I am getting my DD help early on (many of the kids of the members are in the late 20s to early 40s and just recently began the process due to late diagnoses). On the otherhand, it made me realize that we still have a long road ahead of us. But many spoke about hope. And that is exactly what has been getting me through - hope. In fact I recently bought a huge plack that I hang above my kitchen door leading to our deck that has the word HOPE written on it... . Anyway,it was nice to give our advice and hear advice from others as well.

I'm so glad to hear that you have found this support group with NAMI, raytamtay3! And it sounds like it should be very helpful... .You'll have to keep us in the loop and let us know what you learn there. I'm so happy for you! And thanks for the other information you posted; I'm sure it will be useful to the other members of this Board.
I think you are having a turning point here; I just feel it
HOPE is a good thing; we cannot get through this with our children without it
