How soon did you realize that you were dealing with a ticking time bomb? And then how long did you stay?
I'm gonna say 5 months / 13 months

I just read my old messages on my phone - I already told my friends after 6 weeks that something is seriously off here. Still stayed a total of 5 months. Knew it wouldn't last from the start though.

When she hit me with a vase and broke it on my head , in the first months of the R/S It cost her a night in jail and a record for life , sorry but it's true .
But I am not regretful of staying five years with her I can't change the past but ii can change the future though

Guess I always felt something was off but I blamed it on something else, like the fact she was separated and going through a divorce and was a stay at home mom of 5 at that time. Which is indeed stressful. I would have to say probably around the six month mark of our 16 months together. Thats when we really had the first come to jesus treat me special or lose me speech. Leading up to it I was getting the snarky comments however subtle they were and the always present "I told you I was mean, are you sure you want to do this?"... .Yeah, should have seen that and ran.

Wow - I never had to deal with physical abuse, just emotional - that was bad enough.

When we first moved in together. A friend of mine was helping us move and she had a BPD episode when i said i was going to leave the house to do him a favor and drive him somewhere. She threw 3 beer bottles in my direction as i walked out the door. I should have ended it then.

Is flying porcelain and glass a typical BPD response? My ex didn't get the memo, though she has threatened at times to throw chairs out windows and hit people over the head with a 2x4. Luckily that never materialized. Her favorite line was 'don't ___ with me'

Haha. Classic. When she said that I knew it was on. She only used that sentence when she was going ape___.

When it exploded in my face.
I also looked through some old texts and before we went on my first date I was joking with my friend that she was hot but I bet she had serious issues.
I had no clue what I was really up against though.

My spidey senses always tingled as soon as I thought about becoming romantically involved. Like I knew I would never want to marry her nor have kids with her, so I don't even know why I pursued being her boyfriend. But I knew pretty early on that something wasn't off, but I also thought that I was just being silly.

Exactly the same with me. Knew I would never marry her etc.
