It's been a long time since I've posted and I wanted to update every one and provide some encouragement for parents going through this journey. My DD is 21 with BPD, she was in and out of the hospital and had to take some time off from college. Well, I am happy to report she is on her 2nd semester of her Junior year, not taking medication, we ran a marathon together, studying for her GRE and Lord willing will graduate next fall. This site has helped me so much! I loved reading that there was hope and people do succeed with this illness. I still make mistakes but it gets better every day. Yes my heart still skips a beat if she's late getting home from school but I am stinking proud of her and I tell her constantly. I write notes and put them on her pillow. Sometimes I leave her favorite candy too. I give her space and love her right where she is at the moment. She finally told me that she doesn't need medication but, she will always need therapy. Wow!

That's a tough thing to do for anybody, PD or not. Congratulations to you, and also to your DD

Thanks so much for sharing you positive story. What an awesome thing for you to hear from your D - that she accepts that therapy helps her to be in her life successfully. This will be such a resource for her as the bumps come along.
